Mid-Week Encouragement October 9th, 2024
Have you ever felt like you were doing just fine without God? Maybe life seems to be going smoothly, your career is thriving, your relationships are strong, and you feel content. It's easy to fall into the trap of believing that you don't need God in your life when everything is going your way. But the Bible warns us against this dangerous illusion.
Jeremiah 17:5 reminds us, "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the LORD." Even when things are going well, we must remember that our strength and security ultimately come from God.
Psalm 37:5 encourages us, "Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act." No matter how good our circumstances may seem, we should never forget to rely on God's guidance and provision.
Remember, life is a journey, and there will be ups and downs. When things are going well, it's tempting to become complacent and forget about God. But it's precisely in those moments that we need to cling to him even more tightly.
Psalm 34:18 assures us, "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." No matter what challenges we may face, God is always there to comfort and sustain us.
Let's not be deceived by the illusion of self-sufficiency. Instead, let's acknowledge our dependence on God and seek him in all that we do. With Christ as our foundation, we can face any storm that comes our way.
