Mid-Week Encouragement July 31st, 2024

As most of you know, my son Trenton and his wife Hanna have been on a few mission trips over the last few years and are now on another trip to Paris with 60 other evangelists. Who would have imagined how desperately Paris and the Olympics would need Christ?

Growing up, I watched the Olympics. In fact, I have favorite summer and winter sports at the Olympics. Curling, and the Biathlon for winter, and for summer, archery, fencing, boxing, shooting, and the triathlon.

I began watching in 1984, although I am a snob and only like specific events, I must admit.

The opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympics sent shockwaves around the world. France spent a whopping amount of $8.4 billion to host the Paris Olympics at a time when unemployment was soaring and economic woes were rampant. A lot of this money went to the show, which mostly mocked Christianity and prophecy from the Holy Bible.

Although the backlash for the opening ceremony caused the event organizers to back-peddle a lot of their statements and even take down some of the videos from their YouTube feed, it is my opinion this is the perfect time for evangelism in Paris.

So let's remember Trenton and Hanna, as well as all the other evangelists who are hard at work using a bad situation to bring light into the world and give the lost an opportunity to see the light of Christ and be set free from the bondage of their sins.
