Scripture Focus Mark 6:53–56
Opening Question
What do you think God intends to show when He heals someone in Scripture?
Background
Jesus arrived in Gennesaret, a crowded plain by the Sea of Galilee. Word spread quickly. People brought the sick wherever He entered, and as many as touched Him were made well Mark 6:56. Similar scenes appear with Peter Acts 5:14–16 and Paul Acts 19:11–12.
Key Points
Healings were public, verifiable, and complete Mark 6:56.
Miracles witnessed to Jesus’ identity and mission John 5:36; John 10:25, 37–38.
Apostolic signs authenticated the gospel during the church’s foundation Hebrews 2:3–4; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 2:19–20.
God still answers prayer for the sick according to His will James 5:14–15.
Application
Pray for the sick with faith. Avoid promising guaranteed outcomes. Let healings, when granted, point people to Christ and the gospel.

Memory Verse

Prayer Focus
Ask the Lord to show Christ through mercy to the sick, to grant wisdom to our elders as they pray, and to anchor our hope in the finished work of Jesus.
