Bible Reading
Read Mark 1:14-15 and Daniel 2:44; 7:13-14 for prophetic background.
Section 1 – What Is the Kingdom of God?
Foretold by the prophets – A kingdom that will never be destroyed (Daniel 2:44) and given to the Son of Man (Daniel 7:13-14).
Not physical but spiritual – Jesus said His kingdom is “not of this world” (John 18:36).
Present reality – The kingdom is found wherever God’s rule is accepted in human hearts (Romans 14:17). Today, it is manifested in the Lord’s church (Colossians 1:12-14).
Future fulfillment – The kingdom will be fully realized at Christ’s return (Matthew 25:34; 2 Peter 3:13-14).
Discussion Questions:
How does understanding the kingdom as both present and future change the way you live?
Why is it important to see the kingdom as more than just a physical place?
Section 2 – The Message of the Kingdom
Then: In Jesus’ earthly ministry, the kingdom was “at hand”—near but not yet fully revealed.
Now: Since Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension, the kingdom is both present and coming.
Our call: To enter the kingdom now through repentance and faith in Jesus, and to live in a way that prepares us for its future fulfillment (Acts 2:36-41; Colossians 1:13).
Discussion Questions:
Why was the message “Repent and believe” at the heart of Jesus’ preaching?
How can we share this same kingdom message today?
Section 3 – The Kingdom Proclaimed by the Church
Early preachers like Philip (Acts 8:12) and Paul (Acts 19:8; 28:23) proclaimed the kingdom.
The kingdom message warns of who will not inherit it (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:21).
Believers are called to persevere until they inherit the everlasting kingdom (2 Peter 1:10-11).
Reflection: If the kingdom is already here and still coming, what responsibilities do we have right now as citizens of that kingdom?
Section 4 – Self-Examination
Jesus’ preaching forces us to ask: Am I in the kingdom today?
Being in the kingdom means submitting to God’s rule now (Matthew 7:21-23).
Those who live under His lordship now will inherit His eternal kingdom later.
Discussion Questions:
What does submission to God’s rule look like in daily life?
Are there areas where you resist His authority?
Memory Verse
Mark 1:15 – “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Closing Challenge
The kingdom is not just a future hope—it is a present reality for those who belong to Christ. Live as a faithful citizen of the kingdom today, proclaim its message, and look forward to its eternal fulfillment.
